How to Set Up WITs for Instant Live Reload on Samsung Tizen TV

Tired of rebuilding your Tizen TV app every single time you make a change? WITs (Watch, Install, Test, and Share) is the tool that eliminates that frustration by giving you instant live reload directly on your Samsung TV.

What Is WITs and Why You Need It

WITs is a live reload tool built specifically for Tizen TV development. Instead of packaging and reinstalling your app after every code edit, WITs watches your project files and pushes changes to your TV the moment you save — making your development loop dramatically faster.

Step-by-Step Setup

Getting WITs up and running takes just a few minutes. Here is the full process:

  1. Enable Developer Mode on your Tizen TV — On your remote, go to Home → Apps, enter the code 12345, turn Developer Mode ON, enter your PC’s IP address in the Developer IP field, then restart your TV.
  2. Install WITs globally — Run npm i -g @tizentv/wits (requires Node.js and npm).
  3. Initialize WITs in your project — Inside your project folder, run wits -i and fill in your TV’s IP, your PC’s IP, and the path to your Tizen certificate profile. If you don’t have a certificate yet, generate one with wits -c.
  4. Start live reloading — Use wits -s to install and start live reload, or wits -w to live reload without reinstalling.

Pro Tip: Same Network Required

Make sure both your TV and your development PC are connected to the same local network. WITs communicates over the network, so this is a hard requirement for the tool to work correctly.

Watch the full short for a quick visual walkthrough of every step — your Tizen TV development workflow will never be the same again!
